A quick chat to a NIC spark the other day popped up with this conundrum !

He say's ...... When extending a circuit that requires notification ! eg.....Couple of spots and an extract fan in a bathroom fed from an original circuit......... A full Installation certificate is required ?...... He say's he read it somewhere ?

I Think a Minor works certificate would suffice !!!!!! ..... followed by notification !!!!!

Any Ideas ?????

Or point out where it is written ............... in all the garb we have to put up with !!!!!!!

Thanks !

Any alterations or addition on an existing circuit is a MEIWC. He may be getting confused with reg 633.2:- (minor) work shall be recorded on the EIC or the MEIWC.

He is incorrect.

Certification is done to BS7671 only, building regulations will not affect the methods of BS7671 compliance.

Thanks.... I thought he was mistaken...... So he has done a Full Installation Certificate for every notification job.... even if it was just extending a circuit....... ouch !
