Was at the Homebuild and renovation show at the NEC this weekend - saw some muppet wholesalers with pv panels stacked high and wholesale prices splashed all over them - as if it isn't hard enough to generate work and make a living! What made it worse was they were complete idiots and hadn't a clue about any of the products they were selling. I certainly won't be buying off them.

That is annoying. Unfortunately there has been a boom of suppliers that simply do not understand the relationship between wholesaler and installer.

Was the show any good? The NEC is only down the road from me but I wasn't sure it would be worth a visit.

Yes it was ok, a bit steady compared to last year - having said that we handed out 650 brochures, so if 1% convert into a job then i would be happy (i went with my other hat on - not solar)

Yea, saw you a couple of times but you were busy with customers so we didn't interrupt - thought it was a good sign

I thought it was worth going, even if it was just to hear the EDF salesman trying to sell me Fronius panels! We met some people who might give us another angle to what we do and I have to be honest I was astounded at the amount of traders who just couldn't be bothered to talk to their punters - gives us hope anyway!

Only saw one other firm doing what you do, they were flogging infrared radiators as well, throught they were interesting. I'm not sure he understood his market thoough - I'd pay for a picture infrared heater for my summer house cos it looks nice. There will be laods of other peeps like me but he just kept trying to sell me the ceiling heating. Not very good at listening.

Yep and just lost all 3 of my pending installs to the same company - they went to the NEC and they just bought direct. Charged £1500 for installation 300 miles from their base £5,565 incl vat installed for 3.8kwp. I'm hanging up my crimpers now!
