Hi, If a storage heater has its own dedicated supply from an RCBO on the CU does it also need a fused spur? Thanks, Martin.
As long as the rcbo is of the correct current rating then no.
A 20amp isolation switch instead of the fused spur in that case.

Hi, if the storage heater has a duel supply then normally the convector side ie 24hrs supply should be fused to 13 amps as its normaly 2kw depending on size of heater .off peak side should be a 20 amp dp switch fed from 16 amp mcb /.rcbo fusing down the off peak side will eventually overheat the fuse /switch.same as 3 kw immersions

Bad idea to run an immersion through a fused spur especially with the dire quality of accessories available today regardless of the manufacturer.

I agree but,
Its a real shame that we have to advise people that running any device at its rated current for long periods of time is likley to break it.

how do you think ford would get on if they recommended that you don't run there family car at 70Mph for long periods of time as it may overheat and fail prematurely!!

on a side note to that i remember connecting up a 3kw immersion a good few years ago when the manufactures stated a 13 amp switched fuse must be used .i didnt .you can hold your finger on the fuse holder and feel it heating lol
