Ramjam, make an adaptor and use the SDS to drive the rod all the way in. no need for drilling.

I've heard that, what do you make the adapter from? I've been trying to work that out with much ebay searching. Given how hard some things have been to drill I think I'll still sink the drill first rather than spend ours trying to crack rocks with a copper rod.

A socket, bolt, washer and a nut. Our 'leccys invention. The washer soon turns into razor blade :( I'll post a pic.

Your red sandstone is hardly rocks or do you work the Preseli

Before I bought the drill bit I used a lump hammer and whatever they were it hurt my wrist and on several occasions bent the rod. I love my drill bit, very cheap on ebay!

Guys, why are you bonding? I have spoken to an inverter company and a well respected training company and both now say there is no need to bond the aray when using transformerless inverters. the DTI is currently re writing the guidence notes.

What about manufacturers recomendations? cant seem to find any other guidence re bonding, exept equipotential zones(which is obvious).

how about a rcd type b, is there a requiremnet for fitting one of them with the sunnyboy 4000tl
