For galvanised conduit to be used in a domestic setting like this, it'll need to be a top notch installation, to be as you say ''Aesthetically Pleasing''!! So i hope your containment and measurement skills are up to the job. lol!! I can see it being a real ball buster getting this type of installation right. What you need to try and avoid, is any conduit crossovers... Wish you luck!! lol!!

ptfe?

why not run a little silicon around the thread first and again when you have finished and it will be water tight then

Same problem as PTFE use, it would risk negating the electrical connection between the conduit sections, however after putting the joints together I would not see there would be an issue with smearing a small drop of clear silicone around the joint. On our commercial installs outside where water can run down the conduit, where the conduit rises vertically or is overly exposed, we do this all joints, have done for years.

I remember our tutor at college in the 70s told us about the copper conduit at The Houses of parliament many years ago, I've never been and checked it out though lol
Wonder how much that would cost?? Much of the Houses of Parliament has copper conduit installations, i know that project came with astronomical costs...

I have copper conduit in my house. I went with copper because of the building design it's exposed in quite a few places. Can't remember what it cost but there's only maybe 60-80 meters of it so it wasn't the end of the world.
