I posted this in the wrong part of the forum earlier (Sorry) Hope this is a more appropiate section for this post. If not can mods/admin please move/or advise. Thanks in advance.
Hi guys. I did the 2391 about 6-7 years ago and failed the written test side of things. Since then I have been through "lots" of personal problems and just general "life" stuff. Suffice to say my electrical career ground to a halt - all 15 years as a fully qualified spark (Mainly commercial and industrial) - anyway consider that my background. All is now well and I am set to return to the grind.
Now I served my apprenticeship in scotland with an SJIB firm and came out of my time in 1990. Moved to sunny kent and spent the next 15 years down their subbying and on the cards too. During this time I got a card from the JIB (Englands one lol) which kept all the employers happy at the time.think it was just an ECS card - will be expired by now.
So here I am now living in Scotland again - with 16th Edition regs behind me (Qualified under 15th and did the upgrade at college) - Not had a SJIB grade card since I left my apprenticeship - And a failed attempt at the 2391 (Passed the practical).
What would you guy's do from here ?
Im thinking -
1.Upgrade course to get me up to date with 17th Edition
2. Resit the 2391
Do you agree this is my best course of action ? Do you think I will need to resit the whole 2391 now that things have changed - IE course numbers and regs from 16th to 17th ?
When I was working I was well respected by the companies that I worked for and was never out of work and often had "options" IE more than 1 job to choose from (Them were the good times lol). I was often in charge of small teams of sparks ect such was the trust of the companies I worked for - Just trying to get across I was not/am not some mug who didn't know what he was doing lol.
What are your thought guy's ? What would you do in my situation ?
