Im going to join a part P scheme and would like some help with a couple questions.

I take it you would put lim on fixed appliances, lights FCU etc and make a note somewhere on form? (Unless specifically asked by customer to do so)
I know bonds are to be checked but before getting involved with any circuit, would a Zs and insulation resistance test also be sufficient?

Is there any regs regarding surface run cable in sheds/log cabins?
Thanks.

well....as a general rule both the earthing & bonding need to be checked/verified before any work is carried out
as far as surface run cable is concerned....well, thats method C..isn`t it.
verify surface cable is good for any external influences...this includes any accessories.

Ze and IR are good pre-works tests to carry out....tells you a lot about the state of play in there...

Regs, im not being funny but with some of your questions on here theres no way you'd pass the part p assessment...

You really need to go on amazon and look at some good educational books - trevor linsley ones are great. It's all very well asking questions over and over again on here, and yes we are happy to help but you've got to help yourself sometimes aswell and go looking for the answers instead of expecting people to tell you them. In my opinion you don't learn as much this way.

Not being funny, just trying to give you some constructive criticism.

I was thinking similar. Again, without trying to put you down, the questions I've seen will get you a re-test from any of the schemes and a bill for another 400+ quid.

Edited to say

Knowing the OSG inside out and having eaten GN3 will certainly help get you through a scheme assessment, so long as your paperwork is up to date but only if your work is 100% too.

Just saying.

Thanks, couldn't agree more, do some of these guys live in the real world. I've worked with a sparks once whom didn't have a clue how to test and still had a part p scheme, fact.

We all have to start somewhere otherwise how do we learn. Besides what if you work with someone whom teaches you wrong you will never know unless you ask others. Most of these questions i know the answer but want to check i have been taught correct. I don't have to keep explaining myself just ignore my posts if they irritate you so much.

Seriously what is you guys problem? i'm just trying to earn a living and not go out and do things in the incorrect manner like a lot do, fact.

Give a guy a break FFS.

Thanks for your answer. Sorry i dont explain to good as noted before, what i meant was is it o.k. to surface run cable in your home or shed ect without the use of trunking, it just don't feel right naked with no protection.

Also if say i moved a few sockets & cooker point for a new kitchen would i put these all on 1 minor cert or would you write one cert for each item?
cheers.

Hmm, with a comment like that - im starting to think you're just on wind up mate.

But, lets pretend you are legit for one second....

1) Why didn't you report this so called spark if he was registered and absolutley clueless? If i saw someone who didn't know how to test - testing unsupervised, id be definitley questioning them.

2) You are trying to earn a living? Fair enough, as long as you aren't working for yourself or gubbying on the side, because you have insufficient knowledge to do either.

3) I agree we all have to start somewhere, and if you read my post properly instead of giving it the big'ns then you'd realise i was just giving you some advice, buying books and reading is far more benefitial than getting told answers. Fair play for asking a few, but i mean come on - we're not here to wipe your arse for you, we're hear to advise to a level we feel sufficient.

Not what you wanted to hear i know.

now now...we really dont need to know about your personal fetishes in here.
thank you.

as long as all your doing is just moving them...not extending the circuit/s...or adding any more points...
then just move em...re-terminate...IR and Zs...just to satisfy yourself its compliant..
