Hi new to this website, not a domestic spark but doing some domestic work so decided to get myself a 3 mode drill ,any excuse, any recommendations on brand mains 230v 110v and perhaps techniques chasing, tempted to get myself a box sinker but have read bad reviews from sites but would rather hear it from sparks first to be sure.
Have also heard of techniques of using grinders with wide masonry disks and simply pushing t+e sideways down the slot and skimming over without protecting the cables from the apparent damaging plaster seems like a quick easy technique if there was a way of protecting the cable??

Hi Stan, You need to be looking for a good quality 2Kg, >600W, SDS, with 3 modes (hammer, hammer drill and drill only). Suggest you look at the following: Makita HR2470-2, Milwaukee PH26, Dewalt D25113K, Dewalt D25013K-GB or Bosch GBH 2-26DRE

Hi

Nowt wrong with the disc cutter idea, as long as cable sunk in so as not to be damaged by plasterers trowel, otherwise cap it. If being dot & dabbed , I don't cap-what's the point?

I have used oval plastic conduit before as a real treat for the next rewire in 60 years....

Box sinkers are ok but don't use them, they are neat but don't work in hard brick /engineering brick. So just stick with SDS & a wide paddle, can end up looking a dogs dinner but it's all going to be made good anyway...?

Hi welcome to the forums ! If your thinking of getting the armeg channeling chisels their not worth the money really ! they work well to start but they do blunt quickly so either an sds hard chisel is ok or good old scruch & hammer or wall chaser but these do kick a lot of dust about unless you get a good hover ! but as said before you get better control from the labouring trusty scruch and hammer.

I have the Bosch GBH 2-26DFR. It has quick release chucks for SDS or keyless, good power, 3 year warranty. And I would also recommend a SDS scutch chisel, just about the best bit for chasing & sinking.
