hi, a couple weeks ago my uncle had a pv solar system installed, its a 10 panel 2.5 kw system in birmingham, im just wonerding at £4,900 do u fink its a good price or not, also is it true that the inverter will last only 5 years ish and on rcd protected circuits its a bit sensitive for it, cus thats what they wer sayin, as i havnt done any of this sort of work. also do the panels deteriate/get less productive over time, cheers

Sounds an ok price to me but without knowing the equipment, type of tiles, access, wiring runs etc its difficult to judge.

Inverters have a warranty of 5 years (some do 7 or 10) but that's not to say they wont last longer than this as they should last 15-20 years if installed correctly and in the correct location to maximize the lifespan of the inverter.

Panles do degrade over time, they should warrantied to produce at least 80% of their rated output after 25 years.

I'd echo GavinA's post, the price is not outrageous and its not bucket bottom either.

Sorry Ian, so used to you two bantering off each other !!! Ther again my mum regulalrly called me by my brothers name and vice versa ....
