Spoke to a friend who is at college doing 2330 and he said hes been told that his course is the last one to go through college, goverment has pulled all funding c&g 2330 will be replaced with something new and now you can only do the electro courses if you are employed within the industry.

Strangely I posted the same rumour yesterday, apparently 'they' are trying to stop the glut of newly qualified people with no jobs, so you will have to be working in the trade to get on the new training scheme.
Sounds like someone realised this new system doesn't work and is trying to get back to the old apprenticeship route.

I was also told the same in September by a local college when we took on an apprentice. Curiously the other college we deal more with don't know anything about it.

I'm doing the level 3 2330 at the moment and my tutors have been saying this will be the last year for the 2330 since September. Dunno where this leaves the level 2's who have just started though?

it makes sense to be honest, as doomed rightly said there is a glut of qualified people with no experience and who cant get jobs, I did the course a few years ago in my mid twenties and most of the people on it couldnt get work or as fare as im aware never have.
does this also apply to the 7 week wonder course??????? as IMO this is worse and far more dangerous

I agree, I'm gonna be finished on the course this summer and have no experience whatsoever which makes finding a job pretty difficult, especially at the moment.

So now we are going to have a glut of unqualified people with no experiance and who can't get a job. And this makes sense?

There's a recession on at the moment but we will come out of it. If we stop training now there will be a skills shortage and the shortfall will have to be made up from either unskilled or overseas workers, I've been on this forum long enough to know what the majority of members think of both these groups of workers.

They'll have to do the 2357 which is the new "all in" NVQ qualification.
Think the old 2330 curriculum is the basses for classroom work, but as has previously been mention think the idea is to drive out these 2330 in 12 week courses.
Be they good or bad... I'm not making the judgement!

I am currently doing 2nd yr of level 2, the tutors at college said the same thing on Tuesday. You wont be allowed to do plumbing,gas or electrics without a job. Also said that there's talk of tightening up the rules about "domestic installers" as it's a loop hole around things and was only ever meant so that old boys that had been in the game for yrs and had no qualifications but are competent could get them.
