Seen this on eBay for a few quid! Had to buy it! Quite interesting in parts.
On the lighting diagram, notice the main supply and final circuit neutrals are fused. I think the book is from 1947

Any mention of AFDD’s???:D:laughing:
No....as the front cover illustrates, the work is being carried out by a gent in a waistcoat and wearing Brylcreem!......the job will be done properly and there will be no arc faults!:D

That's fascinating, I'd love to replicate an install from that period with all the old accessories, those old switches must have been fiddly though with the little holes for the cables in the wooden pattress having to line up exactly with the switch terminals.

They're great! ... still have half a dozen in my own house...my favourite,is the one which switches the light fitting cluster,at one end of the lounge....you switch it off,and it takes a second or two,to break, and turn it off:)

That was probably @telectrix pocket guide as an apprentice, I'm surprised he's parted with it.
OI! you great hairy primate. your name is now in the black book. :D:D:D.

Worth a read to bring back College memories, still got some of those tools shown, even the Auger.

I'll give you 10 shillings for it!! Maybe stretch to 10 Shillings and 6 pennies 10 and 6 to those old enough to remember pre decimal currency, ahhh happy days, farthings, halfpennies, pennies thrupny bits, tanners, Bobs, 2 Bobs, half a crown, Could go on but I'm filling up.

remember my maternal grandfather came looking for us when my dad and stepmother came back from honeymoon and we weren't there. he came on a bicycle like Granville had on Open All Hours. sit up and beg, with a stunningly advanced Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub. we were swimming in the clay pit. I was 11 and my sister 9. the snowflakes would have fatal orgasms over that these days, esp.as 2 kids had drowned there a month before. 2 years later, we both swam the Rhine ( approx. 1 mile wide) from Switzerland into Germany, as smokes were a bit cheaper . happy days.
