I'm concerned, I'm currently studying Level 3 CG2330 due to finish next july 2011 .Our tutor spoke to us about some changes due next june 2011, CG2330 will be remodelled as an NVQ qualification and essentially that requires you to be working in the trade. My understanding is that unless you are on a work based nvq program you cannot progress,I do not work in the trade yet. I planned to complete my qualification with the short course 17th regs, Part p and test inspect, then look for employment. But nvq barrier could prevent me completing, I don't want the past 3 years to be for nothing. I understand there is an element of insuring only highly skilled sparks stay in the trade, but what about the hard working newbies like me?. Any thoughts, opinions or advice

What I'm trying to say is that from june 2011 all courses will be work based nvqs so if I'm not employed in the trade by then, I cannot do any electrical courses!. Biggest barrier getting employment with no experience!!

IMO the biggest barrier with these "Courses" is they are not apprenticeship based and after getting the qualifications firms are reluctant to take on unexperienced guys but the course providers and colleges keep churning out false promises to guys n girls telling them get this qualification and you can earn XYZ when in reality you find out that you cant get a job at all

Have to agree mogga, all they see are ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ and don't give a monkies hoot about whether their students get a job or not.

Finally they have now they have realised but I think it is the old saying about closing the gate after the horse has bolted.

wouldnt worry about it, but if you are then there is nothing stopping you starting your nvq now to run alongside your level 3, get on with the theory questions etc and see if you can pick up odd bits of work to get some photo evidence (some internet based providers do everything over the internet which may be better for you)

but from what ive heard anyone currently on the 2330 will be allowed to complete.
