Hi all
I'm after some advice regarding a fire alarm system we have recently fitted.
The system is in a 4 storey building containing 7 flats from a single communal stair way.
Each flat has an internal system with domestic type smokes and heats in every room apart from bathrooms .. plus an additional system smoke as sounder in each flat hallway connected to the main building fire alarm panel. .
This panel is a addressable type all detectors , sounders and
Break glasses wired on a single loop and addressed into a zone per floor...also covering all the communal areas.
The system was wired by others before we got on the job ..we have just 2nd fixed what was there.
This week the customer asked if I can issue him with a commissioning certificate for the system.. looking at my available niceic certs I can only see certs applying to grade b,c,d,e,f
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the correct certificate.
Any guidance of the legality of us supplying the relevant commissioning certificate would also be appreciated.

Many thanks

Vito

Have you got all the kit to programme and commission? Usually, when we have an addressable system we get the kit supplied we 2nd fix and they come and commission. I am not sure regarding a smoke/sounder in each flat eg burning toast in one flat could set it off disturbing others maybe a heat with sounder.

Yes we programmed the panel on site.. straight from the panel..no need for any extra gear .. tested with canned smoke ..
The smokes in each flat are in the hallway not the kitchen area so toast shouldn't be a worry.
I'm very happy with the system .. and we have wired and fitted many systems of this type .. but previously they were commissioned by others..or at least we have never been asked to supply a commissioning certificate.
This is the only part I'm unsure about.

What certificate do you recive when a supplier commission's their system for you..?
One based upon the latest B.S. it is usually filled in the type and grade of the system. If you do a lot of these I think the as you use NICEIC ones they do in separate pads for design, installation and commissioning, if not they used to, going back three years.

Yes.. but where can I find them..?
Niceic shop only has certs for grade b,c,d,e,f systems..
I can't see any online that state suitable for grade a.
The system as installed to me is a Grade a ld1 system.
Why are all the certs I can find not applying to grade a systems?
I have a model form in my bs 5839 guide I could copy it and issue that .. but the lack of an avaliable cert of this type from the niceic or as far as I can see anyone else seems odd..surely there must be a reason for this...?
