Thanks a lot for this, very informative! I have always been wary about availing of the Green Deal as I’ve heard a lot of criticisms about it. Right now I’m still educating myself as much as possible about its pros and cons before coming to a decision.

I have a customer with wet electric heating - He's over 70, gets Attendance Allowance is there any chance he'll get ECO to change to an oil boiler (no natural gas) or is he going to have to do it himself? He's not in receipt of Pension Credit.

He's an F rating even with pv, in theory the oil will take him to a D but he's wary of spending his hard earned cash. Savings of about ÂŁ450/pa by putting oil boiler in and of course a higher rate of Fit tariff.

Thanks Sedgy - AA is for people who can't manage to look after themselves but it isn't means tested so I didn't think it would qualify.

Interesting story this one - electric bills were astronomical, I thought as a result of wet central heating system. I've spent a couple of days on and off going through bills and investigating gut feelings and discovered that for a number of years half of the heating element in the Nightstor 120 hasn't been working resulting in 40 - 50kwh/day in the Winter being drawn from peak rate electricity instead of night rate. The system had been serviced in 2011 but because no-one had gone through the bills when the customer insisted they were really high it wasn't picked up.

Fingers crossed a small repair bill will see the problem solved and the cost of heating will be less than the oil/lpg alternatives. I wonder if a Green Deal assessment had been done would oil central heating have been "sold"? I can't see any of the GDA's having time to work all of this out.

Not that I had the time really, worse still we're still on an F rating so no sale out of it. :( and I do accept that from the co2 point of view it's not ideal but it's a couple in their 70's so I can live with it.

I see people now getting of the fence lol
Almost certainly off it in the opposite direction to Green Deal :) Still like to help people out though so if/when it gets sorted I'll pass people on. Won't be until they get a few things sorted though.

Any idea what this highly confidential installation/conversion figure will be when it comes out in June?

Dont know what your talking about sorry

Barking is keen to announce that 10k GDAR's have been done but there's deathly silence about the number of GD installations or the conversion rate. Apparently they are waiting until the beginning of June to release the figures. I just wondered if you had heard what were. I haven't heard of any GD installations at all yet, a few ECO but even that's been slow to kick off.
