I have been asked to install a feed to a greenhouse which also needs to be able to run of a generator in the event of a power cut. I will in stall a swa feed from an rcbo in the house consumer unit in to a change over switch then a two way consumer unit with one socket point and one light. Was going to install a ip65 industrial socket on the outside to plug a generator into feed that side of the change over switch, its only to keep a water pump for the property going which is plugged into the socket. Not dealt with generator back up before so does this seem a feasible simple arrangement or have I missed something any advise grateful

then you'd have the male plug on the live genny output. not a good idea.

As Marvo has asked, generator type, supply earthing arrangements and just to add a bit more in, what’s the green house constructed of.

As for the infeed, a male fixed point to a female wandering lead isn’t a problem as long as a changeover is fitted.

We use this setup a lot in our telecoms cabinets. A 12way Spelsberg or Hensel enclosure, with a 32amp appliance inlet mated to it. Inside the enclosure, a KH80T902 K&N co switch din rail mounted, takes up 5 modules, main switch or RCD and up to 4 or 5 circuits. You can get away with 9 module enclosure but that makes it a bit tight for wiring inside.

Cheers for info greenhouse is wooden framed, dno supply is TNC-S, don't know generator specs yet as customer is to source this, it is to feed a water pump that is going to be housed in the green house to keep water to the house the pump is just plugged into a 13a socket
