Hi all,

I live in a new build and they've used a single grid switch for my kitchen extractor fan, and with another grid next to it being the fuse for the same.

Images attached.

I would like to now convert this to a spur switch (as this is what I've ordered, I thought it will be an easy thing and whole-seller agreed!!).

However, on the grid switch, I have L (2 wires) and N (2 wires) for SUPPLY, and I have L and N for LOAD and next to it, for the fuse grid, I have L1 (2 wires) and L2 (1 wire coming from L on SUPPLY of grid switch.

On the new spur switch, I only have 4 post, N and L for LOAD, then N and L for IN (which I am guessing it the same for SUPPLY). So I am puzzled on how to convert from above grid model to the 4 port for spur switch.

Hopefully the images make sense.

Any advise?

Thanks.

TL;DR
How to convert from grid switch + grid fuse for it, to a spur switch. 6 ports to 4 ports.
It is not suitable,
you have the following terminals

Live in
Unswitched but fused Live out
swiched and fused live out
N in
N out (switched)

the new fused spur you have does not have an unswiched but fused LI’ve out.

"It works" and "it's safe" are not necessarily the same thing. With DIY work, they are often far from the same thing.
