Grommet strip alternative

I’ve been having a brain fog moment.

I’m looking for edge protection for a straight cut in steel trunking.
“Grommet strip” in a search on CEF only brings up the small, flexible stuff for round holes.

The stuff I’m thinking of is straight, not flexible… usually black, but would prefer white if I could get it… Covers about 10mm or more on each side of the metal.

Spent all weekend trying to think of the right words to use on an online search that isn’t “grommet strip”

The link shows the usual stuff from CEF…. But with an assortment of sizes. The sizes being the plate thickness.
I’m looking for the size of coverage on each side of the plate.

I guess what I’m really looking for is something that won’t fall off easily.

This is big stuff, more for pax boards than steel...

But also have smaller for use on trunking and cabinet holes....

The smaller size, roughly 3mm ID with about 2mm flange grips pretty well for most applications. I'll see if I can find a pic in use...

Thanks. That’s the small stuff I usually get from wholesalers for the back of boards etc. or the crenellated (?) type.


I’ve just seen this on eBay, which is more what I’m looking for.

Grommet strip. 1.0mm to 3mm. Edging panel. 1 Metre length. - Various Colours | eBay

Push on edging, can be bonded in place if needed. Fits Panels from 1mm to 3mm. PVC is an excellent material for use when good UV or chemical resilience is required. It also has good physical characteristics including corrosion resistance.

Can't recall where but I daresay google would reveal, I bought a roll of grommet strip that has pressure activated glue inside. Wasn't cheap but omg. If regulars all I have I just cover it with some 1" duct tape which some might sniff at but V.

If you google this
"car panel edge rubber cover strip"
You will find a variety of sizes which might do the job.
Theye usually have a much wider coverage.
Mitre Bond is your friend with these.

This shows in stock at my local branch, even though they said at the counter they only had the little stuff. Have reserved it, as i need it quick now. Says 8mm cover... so should be enough.
