GRR, rewirable plugs...

How come those stupid re-wirable plugs are SO hard to rewire? The wires are never the right length, and one always never fits or the strangs come untwisted...

What tricks do you have for using re-wirable plugs, or making them easier to rewire?

Bootlace ferrules.

break out the cores then lay the cable into the plugtop....
you can use that as a gauge to cut the cores to length...
i leave the CPC long and pigtail it into the earth pin....

To be honest tho, rewiring a plugtop is not really taxing for an electrician. I'm assuming that you are not one?

I do kitchen installs for a large DIY supplier in the UK, not much electrical on those though.

Fiddly maybe, hard though? Come on dude it's only 3 wires. Ferrule the ends and you won't have any wayward strands!

crikey, I've seen it all now. after all the cr@p I've read on ere recently, and now I'm reading that someone is having issues wiring a plugtop.
my gran could do that competently, and she is 81 with arthritis
