Hi there.....I am a complete novice at electrical stuff, so sorry if my wording is not right... in my new house there is no bulb in one fitting/socket (the bit the bulb fits into!) in the bathroom ceiling. when I have looked at it I have found that the fitting/socket will not reach to the hole in the ceiling that has been made for it....it is a few inches short....so any bulb fittied would not reach. is there a simple (bearing in mind my ineptitude) extension that I can buy that fits into the GU10 fitting/socket easily and ends in another GU10 fitting/socket. if so, can you please leave a link in your reply. I have searched online and not found anything...I found this http://www.lightinthebox.com/e27-to...b-flexible-extend-adapter-socket_p846034.html but this converts an E27 to Gu10.....what I want is something just like this but gu10 to gu10 many thanks

bit hard to understand your post. is it the fitting will not reach the hole? if so, extend the cable using wagos in an enclosure or cut another hole .

Hi Telectrix. I did try to put a picture on here, but that didn't work......but you have understood the issue fine. I had thought of cutting another hole and filling the existing, and may end up doing that If there are no easy electrical alternatives. I hadn't heard of wagos, but googled them and can see what you mean, but don't understand how I can extend using them. thanks

Just get an electrician in to extend the cable. Any sort of adaptor will be a bodge and, since this in a bathroom, could be potentially dangerous.

The cable that the GU10 lampholder is attached to should be extended to allow the GU10 lampholder to reach the position of the fitting. A suitable junction box for containing an electrical connection should be used.
The connection is presumably only accessible from under the floor of the room above, I would expect that the cable has either been installed too short and just left or that the cable has been caught up in a hole through a joist or debris under the floor.
If you can get access to the underfloor space you should be able to get this resolved safely.
