hi hope someone can help am fitting a new cooker cable that needs to be on a rcbo the ccu is a hager and none of my local whole keeps hager rcbo in stock does any one now if any other rcbos will fit

do as above then!! try other brands.. take a MCB out and take to wholesaler and try and match up as close as possibly! you will find CED from toolstation might match along with chint

take one of the MCBs out of the board, take it to your local wholesaler, and compare the physical size ( mounting wise etc.) with the rcbo's he stocks. if they match ( apart from the fact that the rcbo is taller) then you should be OK.

I fitted 2 Niglon RCBO's in a Hager CU this week.
Niglon RCBOs
As stated above, take out one of the MCB's, take it to your local wholesaler, who will match the (physical) size.There are many different sizes, so check before you buy.
I paid £17+vat each, which was pretty reasonable IMO.

Wow!!! 24 Quid + VAT for a Hager RCBO??? ....There around 11 Euros + Vat here!!! I see it's still a case of rip-off Britain then...lol!! There also considered a '' Budget'' range, ABB, MG, are among the premium ranges.... there around 18-20 Euros +Vat...

fed up of changing out defective ABB MCB and RCBO's!!

but yes Merlin, Square D , MGE all part of that lovely Schneider group!

You wouldn't be saying that if you had anything to do with American Square D MCBs/RCBOs, ...lol!!!. The SD breakers you see in the UK are basically MG breakers for the European market, re-badged but without aux facilities. Same goes for those GE breakers.

MG RCBOs/RCDs/Vigi units still fail like any of the other manufactures, which is why i find total reliance on them, ...is a folly!!!

Must admit though i am an MG man all the way... from MCBs to ACB/GCBS through to there MV, VCB/GCBs ranges...

Siemens Breakers are pretty good too.... Not too keen on some of the ABB MV Switchboards, i've come across, some have been bloody frightening. ...lol!!!

from experience i dont think ABB are too clever about there own Switch Gear! we had BOTH of the UK "EXPERTS" trying to get the logic and PLC working correctly on our stuff...! 17 hours later they admitted defeat defaulted the Breakers to how they were originally and headed back to sunderland to get the drawings out and work it out on paper!!!

Never found anything wrong with their controls as such, but some of their MV switchboard layouts and designs, leave a lot to be desired. Which i found to my horror when i had the rear panel cover of a twin buss bar 11KV switchboard removed, to connect our two feeder cables. Back came off, and there looking at us was open 11KV bus bars!!! The rear single piece panel cover not only enclosed cubicle cable connections, but also the 2 bus bar chambers. Never seen that before ...or since!! lol!!! Normally access to switchboard 11KV bus bar chambers, especially bare bar arrangements, are by means of a dedicated access covers that are plastered with ''Warnings'' etc. ...lol!!!

that is absoloutly shocking!!! we have Perspex Covers fitted to segregate the chambers from control circuits so must be a slighty different design!
