Hair clippers refuse to run properly.

I'd guess the highly non-linear nature of the load (almost purely inductive) could be causing sufficient phase angle lagging to be having some strange effect on the output IGBT's of an inverter. Not sure what the generators excuse might be, possibly some similar effect on the output regulator, who knows.

I'd still rule out the clippers themselves being the problem first though.

It was probably 3 decades ago but there was definately areas in Milton Keynes with grid power when I was last there. They were very advanced, even had brick buildings and street lights :D
and concrete cows.

Hi -do you have any test gear? - what type of clippers are they (animal, hedge etc) ? Pic of the clipper and it's rating plate (if it's got one). What invertors do you have? :)
the clue is in the thread title HAIR clippers

it's all right for some... rabbiting on the forum on a saturday, me been grafting on a rewire. 3 bed semi.me and a mate 1st fixed all upstairs lights and most of downstairs today, (except for strappers, no 3core/E on van). and it's got beds and furniture in.sockets 1st fix tomorrow. then monday me alone 2nd fixing. now laxing with a pint, deciding on the takeaway.

I've gone and bought rechargeable clippers now, I would be interested to know if the output voltage of cheapo Chinese inverters can be adjusted though.
