Hi all
this may have been answered already, if so sorry to ask again.

handover pack can this be on memory stick for client & my company?

if i just print the stuff that needs signing & scan it in to my folder for each job?

2 jobs this week nearly 1 ream of paper & ink cartridge later colour & black.

this may sound daft but just seems a waist of resources to me & customer just says thanks for that & put in a cupboard to gather dust.

I have had to produce a lot of Handover packs for clients and i asked this question as well and i was told its all about an audit trail by having a signed paper copy that you then scan, you cover yourself and your company. You are giving them a document that is accurate as of that date,Any Inspector or Auditor would flag an unsigned test cert , Drawing or calibration cert. It allows you to control As built Drawings and revisions. In some industries they dont even let you use black pens, its all part of GDP Good documenting Practice

hi all thanks for help, i was looking at when i handover pack to client that they sign a form to say that they have received a handover pack & if i put on memory stick get them to email a conformation that they have it at the time of handover.
it's just to much paperwork that no one reads.

Just a thought on this but have you approached your accreditation body or MCS to ask their opinion on this. I too think that the amount of resource we use to produce a handover pack makes a mockery of working in an energy efficiency industry!!

Hi Jason
many thanks for that i will look into it.
it seems when i get an email these days it says do you really need to print so should be the same for all the handover packs in my eyes.

handover pack for client & for company

I see no reason why you can't provide an electronic handover pack - prob better for the client in the long run anyway. Electronic signatures are perfectly acceptable on documentation, you could even encode/certify PDF documents if you need to.

Seaward's SolarLink test kit comes with their Elements software which is designed to provide an electronic format handover pack by default

Buy a laser printer then you can pick a cheap one up for £100 or so.

They last a hell of a lot longer than inkjet printers and its cheaper to run

I got a Dell C1765nfw for £89 it stated on ebay that's printed less than 10 pages. I knew /hoped it was unused the listing said no toner but my basic Dell1350 printer uses the same toner. I also knew it would have a Dell on-site warrenty

When it arrived the printer was in its Dell box I opened it and i was correct it was brand new it had the factory seal intact! When I phoned Dell to activate its warranty they said they would need to look in to why I had the printer as the info in the box was different. They called me back within 20 minutes and said the warranty would start today and it was a 3 year on site next working day warranty.

Toner less than £25 for a full set direct from Amazon prime

No wet paper from a laser quick printing better colour and more professional looking prints to hand over to your customer

Who would think laser printers would be cheaper to use than an inkjet printer

Dell C1765nfw is MFP device (print/scan/copy/fax)

And its normally about 1000 pages from a toner.

Lucky to get 100-200 from inkjet cartridges and some cost the same

Black will do 1500 prints, some toner offers will do a full set of toners plus 1 extra black.

I will pay a few extra £'s buying from amazon prime but save on free next day delivery

Laser printers print on lower cost paper unlike inkjet printers.

The only reason I have 1 inkjet printer left at home is for printing on to CD/DVD/BLU-RAY disks
