Hi there

I live in a new build with dot and dab walls. Tomorrow i am to hang the tv and chase the cables in to the wall. Essentially i am going to hang the tv and feed the hdmi/optical and some other leads behind the wall as well as the tv power cable.

Are there any rules around having all the cables in the same trunking and would you advise just creating two small holes and feeding the cables down or actually chasing out a strip of board, potentially with some of the block behind, putting some trunking in then bonding over the top to sit flush with the plasterboard(we will be wallpapering aftwerwards when done)

thanks very much

ricki

Just doing the same thing at the moment - i have mounted the TV on the wall (excuse description here as not a DIY person) that is plasterboard with about 8-10cm of gap behind then a line of single brick then i assume the same on the other side to next door. I have mounted it on a stud and used a combination of normal plugs and those spring loaded plasterboard ones so its all secure. My big issue is also the power cable being in the wall - is it legal and also worried about the insulation material back there - is this not a fire risk? I am using part of an old flue for the cabling run as this was where an old fireplace used to be. Can someone advise me if the power cable should be ok as well as the HDMI?
