I have been asked to install a hard wired fire alarm system in a domestic property. I was thinking of an aico system.

Has anyone installed these and would you recommend them?

I have used their hardwired smoke alarms and their RF smoke alarms, good products, no problems and easy to fit, but i have no experience of their full hard wired systems, but can't see them being crap.

Cheers………Howard

Thanks Howard. They seem ideal for the job and I see on aico's website a contoler can be used to test/silence/locate, which is handy.

Used a few of their alarms in the past and all good stuff.
Went on an aico installer training morning last week (it was free and they gave me coffee and cake) and their range is very impressive.

The RF range is a lot more adaptable than I thought, and the new test switches look great.

I've got aico contractors guide- book they send them out free if you request it on there web site, I like the rf base just fitted a load, easy to pair up. They do rf call points and sounders too

Aico every time. Wouldn't faff interlinking by hardwire - their rf stuff is great, easy to pair & they do a very good looking remote test switch.

The client said they want a hard wired system. I will try and change his mind. :)

Your quote with vastly increased labour charges for a hard wired interlink might do that. If the floors are not up already as part of other work, RF is gonna work out the cheapest.

The aico RF have a 200m range and virtually zero chance of interference from any other signal.

Based on what? Perhaps customer thinks there are only 2 options - battery only or hard wire only?

I find loads customers are bothered about "mess" - tell him you'll make a lot more "mess" by hard wire interlink rather than RF LOL
