Quote ...On pratical week stick with what you learned from the book, and never be afraid to confrot your teacher from what you have learned and what he tells you.

That just about sum's up these courses, and with what's WRONG with the way so-called electricians are being taught the trade these day's !!

I have some very sad news for you Sparky BH, ...there is no way on this earth that you can ''learn'' the practical side of this industry from reading about it, out of a book a book. There is but one way, and that's being shown by an experienced qualified electrician. So if you haven't had any real world outside experience with such animal, expect at least another couple of years re-learning what you gained from books working with a an experienced electrician...

These courses are great at getting students through exams, what they don't and can't teach you are the intricacies of the trade. Often skirting round many of the aspects of this industry on the argument, ''you won't or will never see this in your working life'' It ain't so, ...because You Will at some point!!

Hi everyone.

I readed a few post here which dont quite tell the true... I have finish the T4TS full sccope on electrical course which comprise 40 Module and 8 paratical weeks.

One: You will not a get the NVQ Level 3 qualification unless you are employed in industry and one of the acredit tutor will visit you a couples of time on site and sign the picture or any other source of evidence for the work you being undertake. (this will prove difficult for you because most of the employer want to employ electrician with qualification and experience, and you only have qualification and not the experience. To have the experience you need to be employed, the emploeyment which they dont give to you because you dont have the experince they ask.)

Two: The City and Guild qualification you get is ye reconised by the City and Guild, the certificate you get it come from the City and Guild Department itself in London (I guess) and not from the T4TS. otherwise the ten plus certificate I have got would mean nothing if not official stamped.

Three: Doenst matter where you go for your pratical week. Honest I done the first 5 week at the center in Leeds and the rest at Southampton centre, because Leeds doenst teach level 3. At both center the system it seems to be the same, is not always ( repeat) not always what you find in the module are right and again not what you hear from the tutor are all right, so beaware that what you learning from the Module not always what you will hear from the tutor. Englis is not my first language but I chanllenge the teacher many time in the thing I knew it wanst right, guess what I always win (not offence but sometime they seems to be a little vague). So if you are stuck in one particular question, answer or on the smallets thing please do not let him move forward before you are clear about. It is around 6 thousand pounds you dont want to waste it...

Try to enjoy it and best of the lucky
