Has anyone seen this?

Hi I'm doing some alterations in a flat. And whilst altering the kitchen sockets I have noticed this type of trunking/conduit. And just wondered if anyone has come across it, or installed it??

The first pic is a lovely job of a buried JB in the wall; the cables are in three seperate voids within the trunking.

I've never seen it before.

Thanks
Billy

Seen loads of it. There are two types, the oldest type as a tinned cpc which is intergrated in the middle section. This must of first been used before my time, maybe the 1950/60. Not a problem pulling through on the red and black, but not the cpc, as above.

I first see the newer version about 23 years ago, and you can pull through on all 3 cores.

Is the cpc on the one you found intergrated?

The cpc is a single copper core, and is easier to pull than the red and black. This trunking stuff is PVC I think.

Do you know if it's like trunking, or more like conduit, and does the cable come installed in it?

I know these questions are not important as I've already pulled most of the old wiring out, I'm very intrigued.

If you can pull on the cpc, then its the newer stuff I see 23 years ago. Its a conduit, comes pre-wired but is meant to be rewireable, but the way some people used to install and crampet the sucker in, your have some tight corners to pull round.

Get some yellow 77 and tie on properly if you want to rewire any.

Thanks for that info.

I'm moving all of the sockets in the kitchen, as they're moving the kitchen around. So I'm not using any of it and leaving what cable I can't get out in place.
