Trying to get the internet back in a room

in the front room is a telephone point inside is a cable with an orange green white and black single at this point the orange goes into one hole and the white another (there's no numbers) and the green and black have been chopped of. This cable come out of here and onto a grey box (outside) where it meets another 2 cables ones black with 6 singles and the others the same as the one in the front room so 4. Well the cable from the front room orange and white contect to the black cables orange and white. The cable to my room connects to the black and green of the black cable which means at my end I've got a cable with 4 singles, orange white green and black and a telephone socket with 6 terminal points. 2 lines of 3 down 1,2 3 on the left and up 4,5,6 on the right. I'm trying all sorts but nothing seems to be working

Hang on ive just been up to my dads shed and found one. Haveing never used one its a bit daunting, well daunting might be a bit ott but there is loads of different setting to choose from

any help on how to use it and what to set it up on, pics would help but i cant take one atm

Only a trainee but here's my input it may be of use or useless.

Is the faceplate a nte5?.

Orange, green, black and white are normally from the drop cable and 1 pair is connected to terminals marked (A) being negative and (B) being positive 50v dc on the back of the BT master socket. This then feeds the removable faceplate on the bottom of the socket which all your extensions are wired from.

Most modern phones only require terminals (2) white/blue and terminal (5) blue to work correctly.

Yes mate the first point is as you describe, it's got an A and a B with an orange and white used (one for each I can't remeber what was in A and what was in B but orange and white where the ones used

This then went out to a box and was connected to the white and orange of another cable as which has 2 yellows that have been snipped of (might identify cable)

the cable to the last point where I'm trying to get the internet is connected to the green and black of the cable at the et5 which is using the white and orange

Can't work out me multimeter at the moment!
