how much do you charge to wire heating
i charge £150ish dependant on job, how rich customer is, where and whats to be done.
Y on every ground source heating system does it need 2 supplied and trips a 30ma RCD there commtioners state 100ma as it always happens with these systems with 10mm and 1.5mm feeds

on this job about £40000.

L Plan

Terminal E N L 1-5

N to programmer to N terminal - N boiler

L to programmer to L terminal, also connect grey(port valve) to this terminal.

1) Hw on from programmer and demand cylinder stat.

2) Heating on from programmer and "C" from room stat.

3) brown fro port valve and demand from room stat

4) Line from boiler and "C" from cylinder stat

5) orange from port valve and line to pump

gravity fed chr!s and cant swap wires cause lcd display on timer

Have you put a fancy programmer on, the problem with the L plan is when the heating port valve is energised it will heat both circuits, you only get hot water temp control when the programmers is in hot water only mode.

To switch to a C plan which offers greater control an allows full programming, you need a port valve with auxiliary(white cable) and place the valve in the hot water circuit.

So if you can not select hot water only on your programmer there will be no real control, it will heat both. You may have to change your programmer.

Going back tonight i'm going to put the old programmer on and see what happens...

Sound like you have wired it correctly, just that the new programmer does not allow Hot Water Only, there are alternative methods, but all require extra port valves or different valves and controls etc.

didnt realise there were so many variations of plans, the whole thing works though thats the worry - albeit in reverse! when I call for heat on the room stat the boiler fires and heats the cylinder, when I boost for hot water the boiler fires and the rads heat up, only thing they each heat wrong side of plumbing circuits.

I would first of all see which part of the circuit the port valve is in, Heating or Hot water.

Then i would check the type of port valve, look for a white wire this indicates and auxiliary switch.

Then look at the control of the Programmer( new and old), if you can get the make and model.

We then might be able to see if we can configure it another way.

Problem solved, turned out brown in wrong terminal !!!!, thanks for all time given to my problem much appreciated.. :)

Has anyone seen these kits, hope plumbers dont start using them it will put us out of work, plug and play things really simple View attachment 8865

"Hello sxsparky",

Some `Plumbers are using these Honeywell `Plug In` Kits - it started when it was thought that the Kits would enable them to Ignore the requirements of Part P - they THOUGHT that a `Plug In` wiring system would mean that they were NOT carrying out any `Wiring` and therefore did NOT have to adhere to ANY of the Part P stipulations.

Even though that was found NOT to be the case - and also obviously there is still the task of supplying Power to the Controls System - some of these People liked this method of installing the Electrical Controls for Heating Systems - and although the Kits are Expensive many `Plumbers` WILL do the Heating System Wiring using the Kits and `Save` Money by NOT engaging the Services of a Professional Electrician - OR Testing / Notifying the Electrical Works where necessary !
