Hello from Wiltshire.

I am an electronic and electrical engineer, background is more electronic design commercially with a bit of panel building work. Occassional foray into domestic investigations and always interested in keeping up to date with wiring regs and testing methods. Also own far too much test equipment.

Keep ending up reading topics on here as its kind of the font of knowledge so thought it about time to register properly!

Cheers!

electrical engineers are awesome,

welcome to the forum.

I am also an electrical engineer, specialise in PLC and automation.

The thing that differentiates us from others is that we need to understand the reasoning behind the figures and the reg's

oh yes and before you can consider yourself in the club, you will have a power supply with fancy displays, buttons and knobs.
and if you can honestly say that you have less than 2 oscilloscopes, then this electrical engineering thing is just a hobby!!!

welcome aboard.

Oh indeed, Some rabbit holes are simply too deep though when wiring regs are concerned.

I have many power supplys with many knobs. Some I even built myself.
Also own at least 2 oscilloscopes, and have had many more in the past but kept one CRT 4 channel philips for when digital just won't do and one 4 chan tek digital for when you actually want more than a screen width. I likely have another old Telequipment one floating around somewhere with the Variacs though!

Thanks for the kind words!

Pah, posted, it came up twice so I deleted 1 and they both went. Oh well, try again.....

I've only got the one 'scope but I have got loads of power supplies, most with lots of knobs, LCDs and LEDs, some with dual knobs. Some bought, some home made, couple with torroidial transformers. Whatever happened to dual shaft pots? You don't see them much now. I used to like the dual shaft/ dual knob pots. You could have fine and course together.
