Hi everyone,

Can anyone give me any advice on the order of tests for my practical exam tomorrow.

Do I test first and then fill in my schedule of inspections? I feel as though time will be an issue!

Please, any advice would be grateful

yes, good luck. I agree on filling in as much of the certs as possible 1st, gets you used to what you are dealing with and allows you to ask any obvious questions before you start.

I agree, fill out as much as possible before you start, then fill the rest in as you go, unless you have a very good memory. A piece of scrap paper is good as well, so you can make notes, do any calcs etc, before you fill out the certs.

Cheers.........Howard

Sorry,

forgot to add, the 2395 is the periodic, so in theory you can do the tests in any order. But to avoid any cockups, i would take each circuit at a time,

Continuity of protective conductors (R1+R2 method)
Continuity of rings (r1,r2,rN) the figure of eight for R1+R2 measurement, dont forget to use highest reading as your test result.
Insulation resistance
Polarity
Zs
RCD (7 tests)

On your initial testing dont forget to disconnect the main earthing conductor to do Ze, then put it straight back in afterwards.

And above all, make sure you do safe Isolation properly.
3 phase, 10 tests.
L1-L2
L2-L3
L3-L1
L1-E
L2-E
L3-E
E-N
N-L1
N-L2
N-L3

In any order, but do them all.

Cheers........Howard

Hi all,

Well thank god that's over! Put me in an exam situation and I just fall to bits!

I'm sure my sweaty palms could have been classed as an external influence!

All went well though, thanks.

Just have to wait for my results from the written component now.

Only a few weeks.

Forgot to say thanks for all you comments.

For everybody's information, the 2395 written exam has changed format considerably from the 2391.

The exam is now made up of 6 questions, each made up of 15 points. Three of these questions are based on an accompanied scenario. The whole exam now resembles section B of the 2391.
