any my help will be much appreciated Thanks

Hello again
many thanks lads for all you advice rang Ecs today only to be told NVq3 what a load of *****
I think I'm wasting my time to be honest if I knew I would have done it.
It's really ****ed me off I've possibly lost this job and had an opportunity to bring non sparks with me potentially me and 8 other lads so what a ball ache.
I'd accept a Non approved card But a Labourer that's **********************************************removed************************************************ Orf Happy Christmas Ecs Jib .

Rant over

I feel your pain mate i went through this same headache a few years back with all the qual's minus an NVQ3. I was forced to do it to get my gold card. What really ****ed me off was the fact that there was and probably still is a scam for eastern european labour incorporating a company called 'Narec' which basically worked on the principle that any non skilled worker approached a lawyer or solicitor within their own country with an envelope containing an 'incentive' for a letter falsely listing out their so called electrical skills and qual's which was then stamped and brought over to be handed to this Narec crew to officially translate into english. This was then sent to JIB ECS where it was approved and a gold card was sent back to the applicant. This is fact as it was a well known route for foreigners working on contracts i was testing. Most couldn't wire a 2 way lighting point or worse still couldn't even wire you a ring final circuit. Outrageous altogether especially when us time served sparks who have worked hard to get the quals then get refused by the JIB who's job it is to monitor the industry in the first bloody place!!

Yes mate I hear what your saying, say no more grit ya teeth and carry on hey .

this shouldn't be allowed its winding me up every time I hear about it lol :banghead:

So ÂŁ750 bucks later and a shed load of writing and photos I got the Nvq 3 and in the eyes of the jib I was now qualified lol. It was a complete joke really as most of the Nvq3 portfolio could just be made up lol.

That's my view on these NVQ 3 Portfolio's, they are wide open to fraud and other abuse....

In my day as an indentured apprentice there was no such thing as AM2 or NVQ's, and basically no need either, as apprentices got an all round work experience from the employers that indentured them. Alas it's not like that today, even most present day technical courses are based primarily on domestic installation work.
