help electrical courses.

Hello everyone,

i hope you are all well and having a good Christmas and a happy New Year, This is my first Post, I apologise in advance if I'm doing anything wrong course saying anything that might offend anybody https://talk.electriciansforums.co.uk/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png.

I am just new to the electrician word and I've just completed my 2365 level 2 at Acton College and I don't want to do my level 3 there as well, because it was a really bad experienceI. So I would like any advice if anybody knows anywhere really good in central London that I can do my level 3 2365.

I live in Battersea and I'm working on site so preferably I would like to the course on evenings or weekends. The only place I've found that does the course in the weekends and it's close to me http://www.trainingskillsuk.com I think the new but has anyone done a course or knows anything about this company. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi - that's a shame they seem to have dropped it; Langley was the other one around here but that's further out again distance wise and they did each level over 2 years. All the best.

As suggested before city of Westminster in Paddington do run all electrical courses and isn't to far from Acton either, you may also want to try college of north west London they have 2 colleges very close to actin also

Hi, Sparky10 Westminster College don't do level 3 and North west London don't do the course, thanks and if you have any other places you might think that do the course in london please let me know.

I did my training at Able Skills 7 years ago. If you can get to Dartford for a weekend then they are a good collage. They do a weekend or part time courses and have cheep rooms available for students who require them if you book in good time. Hi thanks I checked that college it's not bad it's pretty close however the only level 3 course they do is Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnology (Building & Structures) - City & Guilds 2365, so I have to give them a call not sure if this is the same one I want to do but it is 2365 so it might be similar and will allow me to progress to get my gold card as an electrician.

That is the course your are looking for mate previously was 2330 or something like that if you do that along with your NVQ you will have your gold card along with doing you AM2

Thanks a lot mate that's great only downfall its full-time and three days a week but I am going to give them a call thanks.

for your information I'm currently doing the city & guilds level 3 2365 diploma and it is the follow on course from the level 2 2365 diploma. This course is a very intense theory based course and I find that being in a classroom environment certainly helps me and I can honestly say I would not have been as confident now if I could not have cross referenced my calculations with my fellow classmates. I have helped my younger classmates through the practical level 2 diploma as they had little practical experience and they are now returning the favour by helping me on the theory calculations I struggle with as I'm a mature student. My level 3 course is full time 2 days a week and I work on electrical installations the other 3 days a week. Home learning and study at home courses are good for some people but my personal advice is you cant beat a classroom environment where you will have students at the same level as you and who will be able to help you where you are struggling.
Good luck and stick with it you will need the level 3 diploma certification and the NVQ/AM2 to gain a fully qualified electricians gold card.

Hi uksrevivor thanks for the advice I think you're absolutely right I'm the type of person that learns more in a classroom environment, that's why am looking for a place that will do the course in a classroom environment, but it has to be in the evenings or weekends part time and I seem to have difficulties finding a place like that in London. Because I work on a construction site as a mate self-employed Monday to Friday and I don't want to lose two days pay going to college when I have the weekends free and evenings to do that.
