Help ideas on moving a main Incomer

Hi guys,

I have just picked up the keys to my new house, the Incomer is exposed under the stairs and looks a mess, I will be doing a gradual rewire as we revamp the house over time but firstly I will be sticking a new CU on.

Now if you look at the pics what would you guys do with this? I want it hiding or moving so my daughter can't get near it.

It is on an external wall, would it be possible to have it moved to an outside box? Or am I just going to have to squash it all together as best I can then box in?

Any ideas would be much appreciated

You're not supposed to touch the incomer mate. It's not your toy to play with and it'll be very expensive to get it shifted. Think about boxing it in, it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper and quicker.

Contact supplier, arrange visit, get price, have heart attack. Recover, pay supplier, income moved. It's that simple.

I had a feeling that they could be moved within 3m for nothing but maybe wrong

Yup, you are wrong. Given you back ground, surely you know this

not easier just box up whole lot? make a door for those shelves? if you really want it moved then got to contact your electricity provider, they can do it, and it may be not cheap. supply cables do not like to be disturbed...

My background is mainly commercial pal I had a thought it would be a nightmare but I also thought that they could be moved slightly if the cable was long enough i.e shove it in the corner.

I want to hide it as best as possible as I don't want my 2 year old daughter sticking her fingers in it. Maybe moving it outside was a little bit optimistic but there is some length on the supply cable swooping along the skirting board and it looks a mess and thought they could come and move it all into one corner which I could box but seems I will just have to keep it where it is and box in then.

I was just hoping for some ideas from guys that do domestic day in day out as I don't.

Hi, I'm just about to have mine moved from inside to an outside box, by Western Power, and the estimate is £750 (incl VAT) with me digging the trench and bricking in the box
There is a good guide to the process on their website interesting to read even if they are not your supplier.

It's not cheap but maybe an option in the future as its in a bit of a rubbish place at the moment. But I may have to just make a cabinet again
