Looking at a school job, suspended ceilings, fitted with lay in mods, 1800mmx600mm yes that's 6'x2' mods. these need replacing and before i go back to them and tell them that they will have to have the ceiling re configured to accept 1200x600 mods does anyone know where i can get hold of these beast's ??? as i have tried all of my usual suppliers and they are all telling me that they are discontinued and unavailable.

are they standard 600x600 ceiling tiles. ? if so you can probably scrounge some from your local suspended ceiling fitters. otherwise, try ebay. you'll need a few 600 grid bars as well.

thought.... if you've got , say, 20 existing fittings, ( 1800x600 ) . replace with 30 (1200x600), tghen use the tiles taken out for the extra fittings to make good. that way you won't be reducing light levels, and not have to buy tiles.

I will ask tomorrow for you. I have a rep coming to see in the morning at 10;30. I will ask him. He is bringing with him a guy from collingwood lighting so I will ask both. How soon do you need an answer

Thanks mate!! unfortunately these guys were one of the first i tried and they discontinued them about 7 years ago and that online page is donkeys old

If the ceiling is about 40 years old it's probably coming towards the end of it's life; now might be a good time for it to be replaced.

I get the impression that they really dont want to go down that line!

I would imagine even 600x1200 fittings are now quite difficult to come by - I don't think I've ever installed them, only replaced them with 600x600.
600x600 fittings are the future.
