Hi,

I will be getting a kitchen fitted soon and need to find an electrician, about to get some quotes.

This is what is required:

-Move a couple of light switch down 10 cm.
-Move power socket behind unit for dish washer.
-Make new socket for extractor fan.
-Make new socket for washing machine in the utility.
-Replace all sockets and switch faces (I have bought already)
-Place 6 down lights in the celling.

What cost should I be looking at for this and how long should it take? I am based in the Midlands.

I’m sure the kitchen will be fine and comes with an inter grated dishwasher, oven, hob and extractor.

I’ve got another electrician coming round soon who has said the other price is too high from what I’ve told him.

Really?

Nobody gives out prices on the phone for such a room without seeing it .............let alone saying another price is high.

Maybe the 2nd isn't registered, isn't paying tax and NI and likes folding cash .................. plus no certificates for you.

Back in one of my first bedsits back in the 90's when I moved out of home I had a baby belling oven you could just manage to get a fray bentons pie inside the actual oven for width and when it fully puffed up would almost hit the the oven top.

I loved that oven and you even got a free ashtray with your pie. And back in the days of not knowing any better I realised my pound meter was hung on the wall on two screws which when lifted off and then layed on it's front well.........:)

Regarding his tax and ni, that’s not my concern, if he’ll do it cheaper for cash then happy days.

if he's polish though, it'll probably be done in bell wire.

The bloke isn’t Polish, it’s wrong to discriminate like that too, ive worked with a few Polish people in my work and some have been great at their job.

I will make sure everything is safe and above board, however I don’t want to be ripped off.

Hi,that's just Tels site banter - there will be no other insinuation intended :)

The point the lads are making,is that the final selected individual,is up to your job,and not just the cheapest possible, you can find.

I have given every Polish person,i have ever met,a deliberate benefit of the doubt, purely due to my families RAF involvement.....but very few of them, have had a terminal driver in their hand ;)

Thanks for the advice everyone, if anyone has any advice on what I can do to help, make life easier and have a bearing on the price that would be great. I can move everything out of the bedroom above so access to the floorboards is quicker.
