Hi
Not sure if this is the correct place to post however as title suggest Iam seeking a bit of advice and guidance.
I am a Trainee Electrician, 26 years old and have just completed a Level 3 2365 C&G Diploma in electrical installation. Now as the course states this diploma only grants me qualifications up to the level of an Electricians Mate. For this reason i would like help in deciding my next steps...
Assuming I am correct in saying that, in order to become a fully qualified electrician, aside from Competence/Experience, i would need;
a) NVQ Lv3
b) AM2
c) Additional complimentary qualifications (ie Regs 17th edition)
Through out my years at college i was fortunate enough to gain quite a bit of domestic experience, however this was mainly unpaid work and the guys that i worked with were unable to offer me permanent work/employment needed to facilitate the NVQ
So what do I do...?:dunce2:
Is it even possible to get an NVQ as an Electricians Mate?
Or do i need to look for an apprenticeship just to get NVQ & AM2, despite possessing a Lv3 2365 Diploma and are apprenticeships realistically viable due to my age?
Do i advertise myself to potential companies as a trainee or prospective apprentice?
As expressed previously, I have gained a bit of experience within the domestic settings of electrical installation. I don't see many jobs advertised for trainee electricians such as myself whenever i do a job search.
Do i need to get the phone books and directories out or am i going about my searches wrong?
I just hope to gain addition experience via employment as the work i undertake counts towards me being fully qualified and competence in working unassisted
I hope to here your advice and benefit from your insight
Thanks in advance
