I have just had a landlord electrical test done and it's being 2 weeks got no receipt or certificate. Keeps making excuses. I have paid him cash. He is in Devon. Can anyone give me any advise thanks

Best thing is he as got the trust logo on is van. Lol. Bull ****ter

I would recommend you send him a polite letter requesting the EICR within 7 days, pointing out that you have paid in full. If he fails to deliver then provide a copy of the letter to Trading Standards......

If this report has an C1's or C2's on it, it may be worth seeking a 2nd opinion!

It's just him! I am not aware of any requirement to register a Landlords Certificate nor of any scheme to do so.
Is he a REAL electrician or have you been conned? You should be able to look him up and his contact details at Home

It's a pity you payed him before you got the certificate!!

Though an unregistered electrician is permitted to do his own certificates, for a whole list of reasons I wouldn't use one.

Cheers!
Pete

This post is completely misleading.
You assert, correctly, that there is no requirement to register an EICR, nor any requirement to belong to any scheme to carry out and provide paperwork for an EICR.
You then seem to contradict this by insinuating that a real electrician will be registered with a scheme and to employ one that is not would be folly on the part of the customer.

I might add that membership of any scheme is in no way shape or form any guarantee of any electrician's qualifications or experience, despite the assertions of these schemes.

That link for supposed competent persons is a load of carp. The more I read this the more I am coming down on the side of the electrician involved, we only have one side of the story here. Your grammar and entire attitude sets alarm bells off to be honest, I am finding it difficult to feel you are genuine at all.

I totally agree with you! Didn't mean to confuse! I mean't
a. That there isn't a site where you register a Landlord's EICR as suggested by the so-called electrician and
b. I do believe that there is a better chance of getting a decent EICR from a NICEIC or NAPIT etc electrician than an unregistered one. This is because registered electricians will at least have the latest Regs and know what the current requirements are, and their test equipment will be calibrated because they're checked once a year.

Someone paid me for a EICR in cash the other day, I had not provided anything at that point. I say, if you have a good reputation, good website etc and business image, then the customer shouldn't feel like they are not going to get anything for their money.

i never take money off someone until the jobs done, but sometimes people have cash ready to hand over.

Me too. I was paid for one a couple of weeks ago before I had started my inspection. It's certainly not the way I prefer to work, but I guess it suited the landlord not to have to post it out later.

Post it out? Don't you guys use bacs?

LOL. Or that. But as the landlord lived on the other side of the border significant fees could have been incurred for what the banks would have described as an international transfer (and in two different currencies).

I have personal accounts on both sides of the border but only one business account at present. If I could justify the fees then I might also open a Euro business account.
