Amars

hello all,

Failed my 2395 written exam and from wanted help understanding the following questions that came up

State two reasons why it is important that the phase sequence is confirmed throughout the installation?

State two methods to confirm phase sequence with an installation?

The circuits for the tills and security equipment cannot be isolated, during periodic testing, which TWO tests for the WHOLE installation can NOT be carried out together with a reason to why and a recommendation?

Many thanks if you can help

Hi amaras

Why dont you post up your answers to the questions ad then the forum may be more willing to help, you being just given the correct answers wont really help you.

Phase sequence is important when powering 3 phase motors. Also on large installations flori lighting may well be spread across phases so you'd need to check the phases are correctly identified to ensure a balanced distribution.
Testing is via a phase sequencer (could be part of an MFT) and continuity checking.

The 2 tests are Ze (as the earth has to be disconnected so the installation has to be isolated for safety) and IR as it involves high voltages.

The 2 reccomendations I gave was to schedule the tests out of hours or schedule a period of down time (like a lunch time)

I believe Pat H has covered it. I'd say specifically rotating disc or digital phase sequence testers though.

When did you sit this and when did you find out your result? I sat mine 2 weeks ago, surely too early for results yet.
