till a child sticks a metal utensil or it's fingers behind that unfixed socket front. even adults have been known to poke knives in toasters.

What you on about, you can read my post anyway you like and its means nothing in the scheme of things for what it worth ie costs me nothing to screw them back.

You need to becareful in writing letters, just like typing on a forum. People can get the wrong end of the stick, and could cost you the work........I would suggest a word in the right ear, to the contractor who pays you. Explain your concerns and a solution you think would correct the problem. His response will decide weather you made the right choice in talking first.

in the context of your post, i agree. i was just pointing out that there could be deeper issues if sockets are left unfixed.

If you have finished the work, tested, completed the EIC , then end of surely.

I do loads of kitchens and for my 2nd fix I'm always the last one in (except the cleaners), it drags the job on for another week or so but stops other people messing your work up. Also if they are tiling I try to leave the back box about 10mm proud of the wall so the tillers have to cut round your back box, because if you don't it's guaranteed to be out of line or the hole too small for the socket, and many times do wires pop out the back of sockets when there getting moved around? I know it shouldn't happen but it still sometimes does. So it's not finished till it's finished.

Not sure of legality of it all but I think if you see something happening and not make people- company aware of it in writing that you can be liable for it

right or wrong ??

"It was all right when I left it .. honest guv!!" ;)

Aye ..... it's perfectly possible to hang yourself with a sheet of paper.

Ok so looks like you think don't worry about it

If you're so worried why not take piccies of all the sockets etc. nicely screwed on correctly and then you have pictorial evidence to use in your defence IF there's any hassle!

Include in the piccie a bit of paper with the date & adddress of the installation written on it, then you're ..... BOMB PROOF!!!

basically, a plastic spacer that goes between the socket and the wall, allowing plasterers and tilers to work up to it without exposing live terminals. removed after work is finished. generally use them when the sockets are required to be used and 2nd fix is done before plastering etc. google it.

As others have said, date on completed certificate and also take/keep some photos as proof.
