Hi can anyone advise on this please.
I am wanting to switch the front plate over to a newer modern type but I've no idea what all of the wires are doing and where they should go on the newer light switch.
The switches are 2 gang switches but I've never seen fittings wired up this way before so I've no idea how to rewire them in to the new switch
I've attached a photo of the old switch and wiring and also the new switch that I'm wanting to transfer the wires too
Has anyone seen anything like this before and has anyone any ideas of what goes where on the new switch 🤔

Thanks

they are identical switches, except one of them has one half mounted the other way up.

just transpose the markings.... L1 on old switch to Com1, L2 to L11 and L3 to L12
the other switch goes to Com2, L21 and L22

The new switch has an earth terminal, so make sure that is connected to the earth connection in the back of the box.

Is there an earth present at switch.i see what looks like rubber cables but could be pvc .I see a glint of copper at terminal which tells me it's old pvc.bend it in half while isolated and see what state insulation is in .I also see blue cables which I assume are neutrals .can't see earth from photo .if there is no earth do not fit a metal switch .pretty simple swap over .one side is strappers with switch wire at top [common] the other side is a 1 way switch .in fact as long as the switch is facing the right way you could put the lives in l1 and switch wire in common for 1 way side the switch dosnt care .Mark every thing with taped labels

Com is short for Common, sometime just C, or in the case of your old switch , L1

It is the side of the switch that is always connected… the link switches between L1 and L2…. So the “common” connection across both switch positions.

I do have to disagree with my countryman from waaaay up north.
The cables are modern pvc, grey sheathed, solid core. Plastic dry lining box, neutrals into a connector block, and I presume the earths go into the other connector block I can see.
