I have rewired a room with a ring main, all the plugs have been put on, there are 7 plugs in the room, I have put my tester plug in all the sockets and the 2 green lights come on saying everything is ok, but when I plug an appliance in and switch it on, it trips. Anyone any idea why?

What is tripping? The circuit breaker or RCD?
Any chance of you posting a pic of your CU.

guess N in wrong N bar. where in Wales?

Could be.. Then again they may not have disconnected at the CU and then its a fault at one of the sockets.
We will see if they comes back with some answers...

Hmm and its a Ring Final Circuit RFC NOT a ring main

That's a 50A RCBO! Firstly it needs to be on a 32A, secondly there's a fault somewhere between your Neautral and Earth.
I got an electrician in to do that part for me, he brought the rcbo with him
At the very least you have put your sockets on a 50amp RCBO(It should be a 32amp).
You obviously don't know what your doing so get a proper electrician in to test the circuits, change the breaker and fix your fault.

This is basic stuff. Why is an electrician asking forum members how to do basic load calculations?
