Hi There,

I am qualified electrician with 2391C&G and I have expereince testing . but never done a private job. and now I have client contacting me.

As I am not a member of Napit or NICEIC. when I do small job on existing circuit. ie: changing chandelier to spotslight.
the client ask for certificate what Certificate i can give for the circuit i worked on. or can i still give NICEIC cert.

you give a MEWIC for jobs where you have only altered a circuit. accessory swapping, like for like no cert. reqd. ( but you can give one if you want). new circuits warrant a EIC. some will require notification th BC.

As Tel says. But dont use a NICEIC headed cert, they wont find it funny if they find out, and neither will you.
Photocopy the model form in the back of the regs book, or download one from somewhere. You only need Minor Works Cert for straight forward like for like work. If you do work on an existing circuit, again minor works, but be aware of Part p, it could catch you out in special locations, that is Part P special locations, not BS7671 special locations, they are different.

If i were you, i would download approved Document P and get familiar with if you intend doing a bit in your spare time.

Cheers............Howard

Cheers gent. is it worth it if I buy
[h=1]Kewtech TC2 Minor Works Certificate?[/h]
and if I can download it, any web link?

and to day i was thinking to go Napit. what would you recommend to join ?

I am bit confuss. is best scam good to join? I am very new to this and I still ask myself why join a body when you can do your job and they are so expensive.[/QUOTE]

If you ae doing domestic and notifiable jobs scheme membership is far cheaper and far less painful than dealing with LABC.

unfortunately mate, building regs are a legal requirement, and it takes no account of how good you are at your job. The plain and simple fact of the matter is, if you install everything to BS7671 then by default you also comply with Part P of the building regs, as BS7671 is the required standard. But the last government decided that it would be a good idea to police it, so they invented the Part P self certification scheme. This means you join one of them, or notify LABC directly (pain in the arse cos they are part of local council).

Either way you lose. It costs upwards of ÂŁ500 a year to join a scheme, before we start adding on insurances etc etc.
But if you join Elecsa, you will get a mousemat and some coasters for your money!

Cheers............Howard

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
