I've just had electricity bills for a customer 2011 to 2012 and 2012 to 2013. Their usage appears to risen by approx 5000kWhs.
Is there anyway the pv system could be mistaken for a load by the mains electricity meter?
The details I have been sent may all be based on estimates, but the reading was taken today. It is a 10k system and has produce 7890kWh this year. I estimated they would use approx 70% of the power, so how can the mains meter have gone up by so much?
BTW, I didn't wire in the AC side, a fully qualified spark with 30 years experience who has installed dozens of systems did. The DC side and Gen meter are working perfectly well.
please advise.

Thanks

Is the import meter a Siemens? If so, it may not be compatible with PV.

Don't know Whinmoor, I'll check it out next week, I'm meeting the electrician at the site.
If he wired in the wrong side of the circuit breaker, would that make any difference?
It's a 3 phase system, 16A per phase.

Thanks

Wrong side of the circuit breaker? How would he have done that?

Regardless, it wouldn't affect the meter reading. The only thing that could have resulted in a huge increase in metered usage would be a meter reading reverse flow and counting it as consumption. Reasonably common.

Oops, wrong meter reading.
The information was relayed to me over the phone. Since then, my brother has got the correct meter reading and it appears their energy consumption, through a combination of PV and good housekeeping has gone down by 7165kWh in a 10 month period. Result!
Thanks for replies,

Silly Solarscot DOH!

No reverse energy detection on incoming Meter common with horsmann and Siemens and economy seven meters also, simple meter change but the customer will probs have to pay the bill as it is hard to get a accurate gage on what's gone on the meter that shouldn't have if that makes sense? Had it the problem at my own property! Good luck mate any help just ask

Some meters have tamper prove,it could be advancing the meter, call the energy provider and they will fit new generation meter.
