I drive past here very often, never thinking about the heavy industry that was there years ago. ( well, not the pumps etc anyway, only the ship building)
 
If Titanic returned for its next refit, I expect we would be really surprised

That is the pumps running smoothly after such a long time I mean

Ok tony was spot on with what equipment it was, and a few were close with the use. They are three pumps which are used to empty .........this, it's the dry dock that titanic was fitted out in, these three pumps were originally steam powered and could empty the 20000000 gallon dock in 90 mins. It's in the old harland and Wolff yard in Belfast and the pump house is the building in the top of the shot.

Which yard is it?

It looks like fun when the guy trundles around clearing the sludge out of the dock.
 
the yard has halved in size, they use one big giant adjustable dry dock, the other half was abandoned years ago, the dock i was in is a tourist attraction now
