Hi Could do with a hand please

Hi guys

My name is Steve and i have done and completed my 2330 level 2 and 3, my 2382 and also have a Cscs card. My dream is to be a fully qualified electrician. I have been working installing and fitting bathrooms for the past 3 years but with little chance to progress any further within the company I yern to ultimately become a fully qualifeid electrician. I wish I had chosen an apprenteship straight from school but having not I have to reach my goals by other routes.

I am really asking for help in what is best for me to do. I have read threads belittling the option of an Electicians Mate and working for free for experience or to gain the NVQ3. I a keen worker and will never shy from anything, I just seek the oppotunity to become a qualifed and respectible electrcian.

See if you can get a place on the 2391 before it goes....end of this year i think....that will give you street cred with employers and be sure to look on the websites such as NIC and ELECSA/ECA and NAPIT as electricians registered with these organisations are listed on there websites with numbers etc........

Get an up-to-date CV going with all your quals/certs on it and keep asking and trying....even if you dont think you are getting anyware as somebody WILL give you a start ...in the end...and dont forget.....if you can plumb/solder etc and are good at tiling (think underfloor heating)....then these are all in your favour.........

I always intended to do the 2391 but after working for a few years. Now i am reading that the 2391 if finnishing this year. Does anyone know if this is the case? what happens after this?

With what I have completed so far is it possible to pass the 2391? I see that there is an exam in December. If i focused every woken minute to revising this course learn GN3 inside out, or is there a course that i can attend?

Yep mate ..it goes end of year. There goin to replace it with some module building block thingy (as apposed to the 4 practicals and theory exam more or less all at once) as they think the pass rate is too low...(or something like that)...............

I need to become a MAN!! I hear it is tough and i wanted to do it after being somones run-about, but if I live and breath GN3 and OSG and i have the course books from a friend doing it last year, still in the learning frame of mind from 2330 lev 3. Would it be best to try and get on a course this year?
