what is a high resistance joint? and how would you test for one?
im thinking a loose conection could this be right?

A loose connection may give an high resistance, also a corroded conductor at the joint

If a current is passed through a resistance then heat is generated in the process

If a large current is passed through a high resistance joint, then a lot of heat may be generated
The higher the temperature the higher the resistance becomes, then the higher the resistance the higher the
temperature and so on

You may be able to test for this high resistance with a thermal imaging device when the circuit is loaded
You may be able to continuity test the conductors for an expected resistance value and compare the results with a low reading ohmeter
