High resistance on rn

Hey guys was carrying out a EICR, I don't normally do EICR but my sisters moving and because it was relatively a new build (12yo) consists of 6 circuits and hasn't had any alterations I thought it wouldn't be too hard.....famous last words.

Anyway I'm getting a really high reading end to end on rn over 500 ohms so obviously I have a poor neutral connection on one of the legs.

Aside from removing each socket (which would be a nightmare because both upstairs and downstairs are on the same ring and removing them it will ruin the decor) and checking connections, what would be my best way to locate the fault.

I did try breaking the ring at CCU and going round testing neutrals between each socket but I couldn't find a high reading.....

Bit lost what to do now, any easy solutions before I start removing these sockets.

May be do a long lead method. One end at CU one leg and go through sockets with other end with kewtech plug in thyngy till you locate the fault? But if you do a proper 3 step ring continiuty testing, it would come up.

how will lifting off faceplates ruin decor? has numpty decorator siliconed them in?

Gently score around the socket face with a new stanley blade before removing the sockets and you should leave the decor in tact

Caulk I wished..... Plasterer skimmed the walls due to artex asbestos and didn't remove the sockets

If you have done the long lead round each socket and found no high resistance what happens when you use the long lead back at the CU' if you have a high resistance there, then the fault is from that leg of the ring to the "first" socket, try and find if there is another hidden socket or other accessory connected (perhaps something added later that was not connected well). Try and imagine the cable routs and see if it goes through the stairs were it may have been damaged or under that nice new chipboard floor they have just screwed down!
Either that of if there is now no high resistance, were your probes firmly attached to the cable before?

Asbestos in the artex? Not if the house is 12 years old.

I smell a spur and something permanently connected to it....like a kitchen extract, door bell or something of that nature..
