yup true my bad but it would give you an expected figure for a R1+R2

Did you test the circuit before you added the new sockets??

The OP actually said that he's already done that in the first post, and reiterated that a few posts later, including cross connection of line and neutral too.

It sounds like he knows how to test a ring.

Yup done r1+r2 at all outlets. All within .05 of each other. Max was .64 ohms

Gonna check RCD for its resistance. Also could be my meter as others have had problems by the sounds of it with the Trip lock on the Easi Test.

By calc (Zs = Ze + (r1+ r2) the circuit passed. The max allowed Zs is 1.16 for the circuit and .94 is under this value.
This leads me to belive its the meter, the resistance of the RCD or my test leads.

Timo the 1.16 is that the tabulated value or the 80% corrected value? not got BRB to check.

Hi,
I have been to Metrel in Wakefield today with my Easi Test MFT for calibration and a free upgrade.
Excellent service from a really helpful team and much better results now. Well worth the visit.
They said that they wonder why more electricians do not ring them for help with test set problems.
Whilst I was there, they helped a guy with a problem who only had half and hour before his annual assesment.
They are always willing to help you and if you are close enough, go there and see them. Ring first on

I have an easi-test and usually find it reliable, however I've just had it calibrated and I borrowed a Di-log 17th edition multi tetser 9803P (brand new with calibration) and have just tested a socket on the ring at my place using both testers the easi test came in at .71 ohms on trip lock setting, the di-log in at a whopping 2 ohms, as a double check I have a un calibrated Uni-test unit and that clocked in at .75 ohms, makes you wonder doesn't it?

Strange how they can be so far apart.

Long as you have the R1+R2 and the Ze you can be sure it meets requirments that way
