Hive.. does it need ethernet..

can the hive be set up through wifi or does it need to be connected to router via ethernet?

Been asked to install on a static caravan using the park free wifi.

I believe it is a wifi device. Stand to be corrected though.

If Hive is wifi, then it will work, BUT you will need to add to the parks system manually, using the Hive MAC address. Will need access to the parks systems admin page to do that.
If its ethernet only, then youll need something to access the wifi, then be connected to the Hive. Same thing, you need to add it to the system manually. For smartphone access to hive away from home, you will need an internet link back to the hive box in the premises.
Either way you have the problem of the very unstable nature of the parks wifi system cutting out when you don't want it to.

Can the Hive Hub use a wireless connection to connect to the internet?
Our newest hub, Hive Hub 360 connects via Wi-Fi, our other hubs need to be physically connected to your broadband router using a network cable (provided with the hub) to allow you to control your Hive products remotely.

Update to thread for anybody use in the future.

4g router put in van with sim, hive set up to combi boiler works ok
