Hi i have a homework question i am not sure about the question is (word for word)

"State the requirements of bs7671 for pfm may not permit the use of a bs 3036 semi enclosed device as a means of over current protection for this installation"

the only reason i can think of is that the breaking capacity might not be high enough or the fusing factor might be too high.
the pfc on the installation is quoted as 1.2 KA but im sure that the breaking capacity of a 3036 is 1-3 KA so it should be ok but as i said i am totally stuck at where to look in the regs the closest i can find is reg 432.1 but im not sure.

Can any one help

What you've written there is what I'd be going for, Baker. The first paragraph in Reg. 434.5.1 sums it up quite nicely, I feel.

And just expanding a little on what you've correctly said, there, is that depending on the device designation / type of BS 3036 fuse, its Icn rating may actually be less than the Pfc. That you mention this shows that you've clearly understood what was being asked.

Perhaps have a look at Table 7.2.7(i) in the OSG too.
